Prophetic Voices: Ser Puentes en Una Nueva Epoca
National Leaders in Hispanic Ministry will gather in Washington, DC on April 26-30, 2022
Dear NCCHM Members, Supporters, and Friends,
Paz y bien. We reached the first year of the pandemic with a sense of renewed hope that the end is near. These have been painful and challenging months where too many have suffered the loss of loved-ones, sickness, loss of employment and all that comes with losing our source of income and support, including the loss of our homes. In his book, Let Us Dream, the Holy Father, Pope Francis shares a poem titled Hope, which says “When the storm has passed, and the roads are tamed, and we are the survivors of a collective shipwreck. With tearful heart and our destiny blessed we will feel joy, simply for being alive…”
It is with renewed hope, joy, and in prayer that national leaders in Hispanic ministry continue working in Pastoral de Conjunto on planning and convening a National Congress on Hispanic Ministry, Raices y Alas 2022. Originally planned for September 2021, the NCCHM Board of Directors and the leadership working the Raices y Alas 2022 congress decided to postpone for 6 months, so that we may convene in-person (COVID guidelines permitting) in Washington, DC as was originally planned.
Raices y Alas 2022 is a leadership congress being planned by 75 leaders from national organizations that serve in Hispanic Ministry, six USCCB offices, religious communities, clergy, Catholic publishers, universities, and institutes, among other. These leaders are collaborating in eight committees and four pastoral leadership teams that are working with ministerial priorities of the V Encuentro with a focus on four pastoral priorities: Family, Pastoral Juvenil Hispana, Pastoral Formation, and Social Justice. Our mission is to provide pastoral initiatives in Hispanic ministry as we respond to the V Encuentro’s ministerial areas and priorities.
Raices y Alas 2022 is planned as a hybrid national congress with in-person advocacy visits to the US Congress led by Bread for the World and Catholic Relief Services. Please save the dates and make plans to join national leaders in this important national congress on Hispanic ministry: April 26-30,2022.
The Raices y Alas Communications Committee will soon begin sharing information and the promotional campaign with registration information, news from the pastoral leadership teams, ways to support and contribute to the national congress, and of course COVID-related updates that may impact the congress.
Please contact NCCHM if you have questions or wish to participate in Raices y Alas 2022.
