Press conference at the Congress of the United States advocating for immigrants
Hispanic Congress in Washington, DC
From April 26-30, the 6th National Catholic Leadership Congress – Raíces y Alas will convene in Washington, DC, organized the National Catholic Council for Hispanic Ministry (NCCHM), in collaboration with nine offices from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the participation of hundreds of national and international ministry leaders. The goal is advocate, promote, and strengthen the human rights of the Hispanic community in the country.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 27: Advocacy Day
On Wednesday, April 27th, a group of faith and advocacy organizations will be hosting a press conference calling on members of Congress to work together toward legislative solutions that address Dreamers, border security, and the agricultural workforce.
At 1:00 pm there will be a prayer presided by Bishop Mario E. Dorsonville-Rodríguez, auxiliary bishop of Washington and chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration.
Press conference for national media
At 1:15 pm, a press conference with national media will begin.
Speakers will include Bishop Dorsonville, Chair of US Bishops Conference – Committee on Migration, Dr. Emilce Cuda, Secretary of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America, a DREAMER, and the president of the National Catholic Council for Hispanic Ministry, Elisabeth Román.
The participants in the congress in the congress Raíces y Alas will meet with their senators.
